Beyond the Baobabs is a narrative crafted by Whereisthis for Madagascar Tourism, showcasing and celebrating the island’s unique beauty, rich culture, and untapped potential as a must-visit destination. Join us as we roll out this campaign in the coming weeks.

The Concept:

For 18 unforgettable days, a team of 10 Whereisthis Community members ventured deep into the heart of southern Madagascar. Their journey began beneath the towering baobabs, ancient sentinels of the island’s beauty, before taking them far beyond – by road – into uncharted landscapes teeming with surreal beauty, vibrant wildlife, and the warmth of Malagasy culture.

The narrative unfolded organically, led by the creators themselves, each capturing the essence of the adventure through their own lens, their own voice, and in their own unique style.

Through behind-the-scenes footage, authentic interactions with locals, endless days on the road navigating car troubles underneath the unforgiving African sun, and the bond of friends on an extraordinary journey, we’ve captured Madagascar in a way you’ve never seen before. Our mission? To bring this hidden gem to life, igniting the imagination of travelers through unscripted, unfiltered stories, told authentically by our creators.

The Campaign

The campaign has been edited into 8 episodes, featuring a series of images, short video clips, and authentic behind-the-scenes moments. Additionally, a cinematic hero film brings the journey beyond the baobabs to life, capturing the full story, including genuine interactions and the raw emotions of the creators as they are left speechless.

This cinematic travel campaign is crafted to showcase the beauty of this lesser-known African paradise, where every episode feels raw and personal – shaped by the creator who edited it – yet seamlessly part of one cohesive journey. It shines a spotlight on all that Madagascar has to offer, bringing its wonders to a global audience.

Terms and Conditions

For the Madagascar Tourism and Whereisthis (the “Organizers”) Giveaway Competition:

1. Eligibility:

This giveaway competition is open to participants from any country.
Participants must be 18 years of age or older to enter.

2. Competition rules:

By participating in this competition, participants will be deemed to have read and agreed to the present Terms and Conditions.
From the start of the competition and for a period of approximately 3 weeks, Whereisthis will be posting a series of episodes on its Instagram platform @whereisthisofficial, showcasing the recent journey of some of its Community members across Central and Southern Madagascar, including their stay at various accommodation properties.
During the same period, Whereisthis will also be posting photos carousels
During the same period, Whereisthis will also be posting stories.
In the captions of such episodes, photos and stories, participants will be invited to perform the following tasks:
- Following @whereisthisofficial as well as @my_madagascar on Instagram
- Liking and saving the episodes or carousels (“Posts”)
- Commenting on the Posts by tagging at least 2 friends. Each comment = one entry. Unlimited entries.
- Participant must not tag the same people in different comments or posts.
- Participants will double their chances if they share any Post on their stories and tag @whereisthisofficial and @my_madagascar

Important: The above applies to each Post separately and each time increases the chance of Participants who will be allocated additional draw tickets, thus maximizing their chances of winning the prize.
Participants are encouraged to opt to stay notified of any new Post or story as Whereisthis may, during the competition, do pop quizzes with chances to receive additional draw tickets.
At the end of the competition, and within no later than three weeks, Whereisthis will enter all draw ticket numbers into a number randomizer and the winner will be revealed.

3. Prize Details:

The total estimated value of the giveaway prize is USD 20,000 or AED 73,400
One participant will win, based on a draw at the end of the competition.
The winner may bring a second person on his/her Madagascar adventure
The winner and his/her guest will share one room.
The prize includes:
- an all-expenses-paid 7 day stay at one or more accommodation options selected by Madagascar Tourism, subject to availability.
- All activities organized by Madagascar Tourism are included.
- All meals and drinks are included, except alcoholic beverages.
- Spa treatments are not included in the prize.
- Economy class return flights, to Madagascar from any country in Europe or the Middle East and/or GCC will be included.
Winners must use the prize by 31 December 2025.
The stay will take place at a specified time within the selected months, as determined and confirmed by Madagascar Tourism. These details will be provided to the winner.
If winners wish to extend their stay beyond the 7-day period, it will be at their own expense.
If winners are flying in from a country outside of Europe, the Middle East or GCC, they will need to cover the cost of their flight to Europe, the Middle East or GCC in order to board their flight to Madagascar.

4. Booking and Availability:

The Prize is subject to availability and flight routes within Madagascar.
Winners must book their stay in advance and coordinate with Madagascar Tourism for available dates.
The prize cannot be redeemed during peak season periods.

5. Conditional Transfer:

The prize is only transferable if approved by Madagascar Tourism and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other alternatives.

6. Responsibility and Liability:

The Organizers are not responsible for any injuries, losses, or damages resulting from the acceptance or use of the prize.
This includes consequential or indirect losses.
Winners are responsible for ensuring they have valid travel documents, including passports and visas, as well as travel and medical insurance as required.

7. Publicity and marketing:

By accepting the prize, winners agree to participate in any promotional activities or publicity related to the giveaway.

8. General:

The Organizers reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.
The decision of the Organizers in all matters related to the giveaway is final and binding.
